Hi Terry,
I heard about the problems Koreans had during the archery competition. I'm sure the competitors were really upset. You're so right. It's so nasty to make noise while the athletes are trying to aim and do their best.
Lots of funny things happen in the Olympics, hey? You said "ha ha" about the Koreans getting a victory over the US baseball team. We had a similar experience with field hockey. Hockey was invented in Canada so we think we're really good at it, but in the Olympics, Pakistan beat us. I think they were saying, "ha ha" about us. Actually, it makes me laugh too. We can't be too proud of our hockey ability!
Today one of my students showed me the very emotional judo match when Choi Minho beat his competitor. It was SO incredible! I felt so happy for him. And have you seen some of the falls that have happened to the gymnasts? Yesterday a Japanese gymnast had a terrible fall. He seemed to be really in pain. It was awful to watch.
About L8RG8R, you're right that it means "Later, Gator." This is short for a common goodbye we use:
See you later, alligator.
Then the common reply is:
In a while, crocodile.
Both animals have positive meanings in these goodbyes, which are used by friends.
Only six more days until you go back to school? Your summer break has passed very quickly! What are you looking forward to most about going back to school? Seeing your friends? Let me know.
Have a great day and CUL,
Gwen
